Overview

Barbara left the town for love.

Irene left because she was in love with Barbara.

Fourteen years later, both have returned Barbara for family reasons, Irene because she's tired of drifting and craves stability.

Neither knew of the other's return until fate threw them together in a coffee shop.

As Irene bites into a sugary churro, the familiar scent of fried dough fails to comfort her when she spots Barbara. The realization hits her hard her feelings for Barbara are still there, untouched by time.

Barbara, seasoned by the years, no longer sees the young Irene who fled the town. Instead, she sees Irene the woman, sparking a sudden, intense curiosity to know her on a deeper level.

Irene intends to keep her distance, to guard her heart against the rush of feelings that threaten to overwhelm her. Yet, her role as the town's doctor at the local clinic conspires against her solitude. She and Barbara find themselves crossing paths far more often than Irene would like, each encounter inadvertently fanning the flames of emotions long suppressed.
