Eliza and Margot, now in their fifties, have been friends since they met during the first year of medical school.

Eliza, married to Caroline, a brilliant surgeon, and mother to their 16-year-old son Martin, is forced to rethink her life when Caroline accepts an invitation to work for a year at a new hospital in Sydney. As if the distance isn't challenging enough on its own, fate decides to put her to the test.

Margot is the medical director at BioXN, a large pharmaceutical company, and is the first black woman to hold the role.
