When caught between two sacred vows, how can a knight stay true to himself?
Sir Bayard loves every part of being a knight. Almost. If pressed, he’d admit he doesn’t love it when princesses try to marry him at the end of every quest, but as the famous hero of a thousand stories, Bayard the Beloved is something of a catch.
His current mission begins the same as all the others: Ride into town, draw his magic sword, defend the innocent, slay the dragon, escape before wedding bells begin to toll.
There’s only one problem. Bayard can’t find the dragon that’s been terrorizing the people of Northberry Bay. He does find a lost young man up in the mountains though, a young man with a strange name and beautiful eyes. He’s sick, or so he tells Bayard, and getting sicker by the day. Bayard doesn’t want to abandon his quest to slay the dragon—but he’s sworn to protect the innocent, and he can’t stand idly by as his new companion wastes away before his eyes.
Soon, Bayard is going to have to choose: abandon his quest, or abandon his companion. What’s a knight to do? And where the hell is this dragon, anyway?
Can Bayard survive his quest without getting burned?
