I Should've Told You Sooner
A long-lasting romance between a young engineer and his former astronomer mentor. The mentor’s inability to communicate in three “inexplicable” pregnancies over five years, and the younger man thinking he is being cheated on before he finds out the truth.

23 y.o. Klaus, an aerospace engineer, and his 40 y.o. former mentor, Aiden, an astronomer, have a lot of unspoken feelings for each other. Feelings so complicated that Aiden bids Klaus a frigid farewell right after offering himself up to the younger man on an empty beach.

Confused by the sudden change of Aiden’s mood, Klaus leaves the middle-aged man on the small, dreary island Aiden had transferred to in order to continue his research. Unbeknownst to either one of them, Klaus does not leave Aiden without a thing to remember him

A few days of cramps turn into three months of unrelenting bloating, fatigue and queasiness for the middle-aged astronomer. To his own disgust, even after the queasiness and fatigue subside, he keeps gaining weight, and he also appears to have hormonal issues. He keeps telling himself that’s all it is, right up until he has a “bathroom accident” during a series of very regular, intense stomach aches, and has to… well, do what mother nature tells his body to do.

Throughout it all, Aiden stays in touch with Klaus. The younger man appears to be more than willing to overlook not only the first three months of radio silence between them, but also, later on, what he thinks happened between Aiden and a random woman right after or right before Klaus had left. To Aiden’s surprise, Klaus, when faced with him being a single father, becomes not only a supportive friend and a loving partner to him, but also a great role model to his child.

Aiden has never been great at communicating and solving problems as they come in his relationships. This time, waiting to address the “issue” causes the “issue” to triple over time. But, while Klaus will be shocked to find out there was no woman involved, and no cheating to begin with, Aiden will be even more shocked to find out that his children do indeed have a second parent.

NOT omegaverse. A relatively steamy (as far as stretching the story over about five years within 60k words allows) mpreg romance. Age gap warning, the pursuing character is 23 at the start of the story, and the pursued character is 40 at the start of the story

Angst level low to non-existent. While the impregnated character is not happy with being pregnant, and hides the more permanent developments on his chest away from his love interest before coming clean, he is happy about finally having children. As for the younger man, as time goes on, he bonds not just with his love interest, but with his children, too.

Both men are straight, not intersex in any way, and neither one of them had engaged sexually with another man before. Be warned that the impregnated man’s body gradually changes as the story progresses, to provide for and accommodate the new life growing inside him.
