Downloading The Fight Against Anti-Asian Discrimination in the SF Gay Bars in the early 1980s & Other Records
During the early 1980s Edward H. Sebesta wrote or transcribed materials that are a record of Gay Asian life at that time. One essay was a detailed account of the fight against racial prejudice against Asians in the Gay bars which was epidemic at the time. Another document is a transcription of recording of a meeting of Gay Asians to recount their coming out stories. One document is a transcription of a recording of a presentation by a scholar recounting Gay life in Japan. One of the issues at the time was the feeling that being Gay wasn't being Asian and the discovery of the Gay pasts of Asian nations was important. Finally, the author attempted to make sense of the issues surrounding the conflicts and problems with Asian Caucasian interracial relationships. These documents have lain in the personal records of Ed Sebesta for 50 years and are published so they can be shared with the general public and historians and before being donated to a historical archive.
