The Haunting of Meade Manor: Inheritance of Blood
In the year 1933, penniless, thirty-two-year-old Mary Meade inherits a manor. Her great-uncle, whom she didn’t even know, has passed away – and she is the sole recipient of all his worldly possessions. When Mary arrives at Meade Manor, however, she finds much more than she bargained for. Apparently, not long before her arrival, a young woman named Edie Montgomery was found gutted and beheaded on the grounds of the property. Edie’s murderer is lurking somewhere in plain sight; and, perhaps even more significantly, the dead woman’s spirit is trapped inside the manor. But Edie Montgomery is not the only ghost inhabiting Meade Manor. It might be too difficult a task to count them all. To Mary, though, the most important of these spirits is that of Jessica Price, who was killed in 1879 by a madman named John Drum. She is beautiful and enigmatic as she was in life, and Mary is immediately drawn to her. So long as she remains upon the grounds of the estate, Jessica is granted the return of her physical body at nightfall. And so, against all rules of life, death, and the supernatural world combined, Mary and Jessica fall deeply in love. But, of course, their path to lasting union can’t be an easy one. Jessica may already be dead, but Mary isn’t, and the ghost of John Drum hounds her at every turn. Drum has allied himself with the living killer of Edie Montgomery, and the diabolical duo plot together in the silent darkness. Mary’s seemingly inevitable demise whispers to her from each shadowed corner of the great manor. It’s unclear how or if a living woman and a ghost can summon up a happy ending for their love affair; but if Mary and Jessica wish to try, they’ll have to find a way to banish each and every last vestige of evil from Meade Manor. Before the house comes to claim Mary’s soul. (This book was previously published under the title “Who Killed Edie Montgomery?” in 2016.)
