Downloading Visions of Us

I meet Linda at a supermarket when her groceries fell to the ground. I offer to help her to her house nearby, but she vehemently refuses. Her reaction makes me suspicious, so I vehemently insist. We arrive at her front door and she wants me to leave the groceries on her doorstep and go, but I have never been someone to run away just because I am told, yet when her angry six-year-old son opens the door, I find myself running for my life.

After getting a moment to think, I return. Ben is a challenge, but I have been facing challenges all my life and his mother desperately needs help as she faces this uphill climb all by herself. With nothing to lose, I enter their lives and realize that I need them much more than they need me. In Linda’s eyes lies hope for me…for us, but there is no way forward without Ben – a boy consumed with visions of the world and everything in it when all I want him to have are visions of us.
