Overview

First written and published by me in 2016 under the title “The Girl over the road.” It has since been reworked and had extra content added to give it a new lease of life. And a small portion of the story has been used in “Revelations by Emma Slone.” But here is the full story. Mel and Penny have lived over the road from Rosie for around ten years or so. They always said a polite “Hello,” when they passed each other in the street, but had never got into a conversation. When Penny walked out on Mel leaving her with time on her hands, she started to notice people living in the street a little more. It came to her attention that over the last ten years since Rosie had lived there. Mel had never noticed any family, or friends, visiting her home. Mel guessed that Rosie was a couple of years older than her, and she had noticed she went out early in her car in the morning and returned early evening to spend the rest of the evening on her own. Weekends were spent alone also, and Mel was starting to feel a little sorry for her. It was by chance that Mel was waiting for a train to go to work and Rosie appeared on the station platform and they get on the same train and a conversation starts. Mel invites Rosie for a drink the following evening. Can what Rosie tell her really be true and where is it all going to lead?
