Who needs ghosts when they belong in the past?

For logical Lynda, Halloween was never something to celebrate. After all, ghosts and goblins weren't real, and putting on a mask for fun wasn't appealing to her. However, when she meets Ruby, her entire view of Halloween gets turned upside down.

Ruby adores everything spooky, even the haunted and very real past of Salem, Massachusetts. She's a tour guide and a retail sales person in a Halloween store. Ruby surrounds herself with all things witchy—all the things that Lynda despises. Yet, their meeting still sparks magic between them.

As the town of Salem celebrates the coming holiday, Lynda and Ruby become immersed in a romance that makes them question their goals—and themselves. Lynda is challenged to accept the spooky holiday for what it is while Ruby reconciles the fact that she's planning on leaving—all while keeping her plans to herself.

When Lynda's past surfaces, will she be able to come to terms with her haunted roots? Will Ruby be honest about her plans? And if neither of them is honest, does that make their romance a lie?
