Overview

A Roman soldier takes a male concubine only to save him from a worse fate, but swears he will not bed him. That is, until the concubine seduces him...

It is 16 A.D. and the Roman Empire is seeking vengeance after Germanic tribes slaughtered three of its legions. The handsome 24-year-old legate Lucius Stertinius is leading one of the troops. To Romans, the Germani are barbarians, belonging to an uncivilized land that refuses to be conquered. And Lucius feels the same. But in spite of his prejudices, he saves a Germanic slave named Ingwi and takes him under his wing.

Lucius has never lain with a woman or a man, but it is not so unusual for a Roman soldier to take a male concubine, and that is what his fellow soldiers assume he’s done with this Germanic slave. However, Lucius has no plans of taking the young man to bed. Nor does he expect to be enchanted by the slight young man with golden curls and ivory skin either. And Ingwi vows to despise his tall, dark master for all eternity. That is, until he realizes how gentle and kind the man is beneath that stony exterior.

As they march through the wilderness of Germania, Lucius teaches Ingwi to read, trying to resist his beauty. But when Ingwi does finally seduce him, and agrees to be his concubine, Ingwi cannot admit to himself that it is hardly an act of manipulation, for he has been equally seduced by the Roman brute.

Honor of the Aquila is a steamy gay romance set in the Roman Empire and ancient Germania, full of philosophical intrigue, perfect for fans of The Song of Achilles.
