When Elfie Cole gets the call she has been dreading just days before Christmas, she heads back to Avonlea Bay to tend to the necessary repercussions after her mother’s death. Back in Avonlea, Elfie is accosted by her ex-girlfriend, who demands a meet up.
Panicking visibly about the upcoming reunion at a beachfront café, Elfie meets Jax Clark-a local detective who happens to be taking her lunchbreak there. Dragging her into the drama occurring in her life, Jax agrees to pose as her girlfriend, to lessen the ordeal of reconnecting with a difficult ex-partner.
Bonded from the experience, Elfie is grateful for Jax’s support and is pleasantly surprised when Jax leaves her number with her before they part-something which proves significant in the coming days.
Back at her mother’s unfamiliar house, Elfie is tasked with sorting out her belongings. With sleep evading her and strange noises coming from the top of the house, Elfie starts having weird, lucid dreams which bother her greatly.
Drawn to the attic, she finally plucks up the courage to go up into its shadowy depths and immediately wishes she hadn’t when she discovers aged bones lying under a creaky floorboard.
Shocked and stunned, she calls the police, quickly followed by Jax Clark. It seems that a murder victim has been lying in repose for many, many years-and the discovery of the identity of the dead woman amazes everyone.
With a murder to solve, troubling dreams to navigate and a new attraction to manage, Elfie is more than a little overwhelmed. Can she find a way back to the peace she once knew at Avonlea Bay? Find out in…Elfie.
