Overview

Since the death of her parents at a young age, leaving her orphaned and penniless, Lady Cora Simpson has survived as best she can in an orphanage. Having just turned eighteen, that must soon come to an end, leaving this beautiful and innocent young woman facing a perilous future.

Rescue comes in the form of Lady Harriet, the mysterious widow of her late uncle. This stern and domineering older woman’s aid does not come out of charity, however. She makes it clear from the moment the two meet that the younger woman is no blood relative of hers and as such if she is to abide under her roof it will be under her rules and by her whims which Cora is to follow without question. With little choice otherwise, Cora agrees.

Only there is more to Lady Harriet’s intentions than Cora expects.
