Misty Walker dropped out of college at the age of nineteen and started working in a strip club. She was “rescued” by a young fisherwoman named Ariel – but their decade-long relationship turned out to be dysfunctional and hostile. Now that Ariel’s dead, Misty finds herself uncertain as to how to move on. She wasn’t in love with Ariel, but she was all she knew.

Having moved back in with her sickly grandmother, Misty goes out walking along the beach one night – and runs into lesbian erotica author Theia McElhaney. They immediately begin a passionate affair, but it quickly comes to light that Theia has a rather large secret.

One moment, she’s asleep – and the next moment she’s in the bathroom, cutting herself to ribbons. She has no idea how or why this happens. It just does.

What with her own panic attacks and passive aggressive, unresolved emotions concerning Ariel, Misty is unsure, at first, if she is equipped to take on this particular woman. But it seems love will try and have its way . . .
