Jeremiah’s den has technically been empty for decades, but it’s not until his son, Chase, met his true-mate and moved to London, that it felt empty. The fox shifter temporarily moves in to help family friends with their growing brood. Watching over them only serves to remind him of how lonely he’s been since his mate passed away. It was easy to ignore the pain when Chase was younger and even after he moved out it was easy enough to convince himself his son needed him to butt in. Now, he’s a grandfather, but as a shifter that doesn’t mean he’s ready to buy himself a rocking chair and take up whittling. He has hundreds of years of loneliness ahead of him if something doesn’t change. Daryl has raised his twelve-year-old son, Liam, by himself since the day his mate passed away in childbirth. Sure, he had the whole Moonscale Flight trying to tell him how to do it and that’s exactly why he moved to Green Bay to start his own magical security company. Only the Alpha dragon might have chosen a different road if he’d known how hard it would be on his son. Liam acts out in unusual ways even for a dragon hatchling. Daryl and Jeremiah’s lives collide in a chance encounter that leaves them both wondering if they can help the other. They have chemistry, but that’s not enough for either of them to give up their widower card right away. True-mates are a once in a lifetime experience. How can anything compare to that? The two are pulled together by Liam who revels in Jeremiah’s carrier-like attention. As Daryl watches his son thrive in Green Bay he wonders if Jeremiah could be part of their family. Will these two be able to make room in their hearts for each other or are they doomed to be only ships passing in the night?
