Eileen, now living out of town, can't stop having nightmares about a brutal attack against her best friend, Kallie.

The dreams intensify when Eileen's law firm transfers her back to Kallie's office. Back in the town where the horror occurred, Eileen's only consolations are Vanessa, and Vanessa's charming four-year-old daughter, Meara.

Eileen can see a life for herself with Vanessa, but somehow the two of them just can't seem to get their acts together. The forecast for romance looks bleak until the two women admit their mistakes and talk out their feelings...with a little help from feisty Meara.

They are ready to begin their lives together when tragedy strikes Eileen's family. Eileen must travel to her parents' home, knowing that they expect her to stay and take over the family business.
