Overview

At eight, Kathy Scolari failed to rescue her younger brother from a fire. His death left her with both emotional and physical scars. Her entire being is closed off from emotions, living for the day she will be reunited with her brother.

Candy Kane also has emotional scars. Unlike Kathy, she has never allowed them to hold her back from truly living. There is one exception. She has never allowed herself to truly love someone or receive love.

What happens when Kathy, a firefighter, rescues Candy, a bookstore owner, from a fire? Will the firefighter finally learn to live? Will the bookstore owner learn to fully open her heart? Or have they both been too badly burned?
