Out is a fast-flying, coming-of-age novel based on the plot of Dante’s Purgatorio.

When you’re from a small, traditionally Catholic town like Dani, coming Out can be rough. But when you find yourself in the big bad city of San Francisco, being Out can be lonely, especially when you feel like you don’t fit in anywhere: not with the poets, not with the Christians, not with the gays, not even, really, with your roommates. How does anyone ever find their place in the world, never mind their one true love?

Well, by placing a personal ad, of course! And by climbing all of San Francisco’s secret stairway walks with your imaginary best friend: the famous poet, Frank O’Hara.
