It wasn't enough. It will never be enough.
At the risk of their own lives, Lucien McHail and his partner, Bishop Hastings, managed to shut down a notorious human trafficking ring. But that was only one of many.
Traffickers are making use of the new, illegal drug, Primal, to subdue their victims. With one injection, an omega is immediately forced into a torturous heat that can't easily be soothed. The few who survive Primal are often permanently damaged, unable to control their heats through standard means. And that isn't even the worst of it.
The disappearance of omegas is on the rise, despite the hard work it took to tear down a substantial crime ring. And when the bodies begin to show up, all of them strangely mutilated, the city panics over the chance that a serial killer may be in their midst.
As Bishop and Lucien grow closer and closer, inability to share their true feelings may not be the only thing getting in their way.
This story can be read as a stand alone, but to get the full context you might want to check out the novella, Primal Urges, which comes first chronologically.
