When Emily Hervey learns that her employer, Viscountess Augusta Pembroke, has accepted an invitation to the latest party hosted by Duke Edmund Hunter, the young lady’s reaction is utter dismay. It is well known that Duke Hunter is the most notorious rake in all London, and his exclusive soirees are known by the entire Ton to be scandalous affairs. Surely the lecherous Duke has nothing but ill intent towards the lovely lady Augusta.

Left with no choice but to attend, the innocent and inexperienced lady’s companion resolves that she will do everything she can to guard her employer’s honour from the machinations of their host. What she is not prepared for, is what happens when she meets Lord Hunter’s sister, Dinah.

This domineering yet alluring older woman catches Emily entirely off guard and soon she finds herself struggling with new and unsettling feelings within her, feelings she has never experienced before in her entire life. Even more unsettling, she begins to suspect that just as the Duke is pursuing Augusta, Dinah too seems to be pursuing her in the manner of man.

As the evening takes on a scandalous and steamy turn, Emily finds that protecting Lady Augusta’s honour is the least of her concerns. It is her own that seems to be in peril. As the seductive Lady Dinah seeks to have the innocent Emily submit to her, the question becomes not only if the young woman will escape her deviant clutches but whether she even wishes to do so.
