Overview

Alexis Anderson swore she knew a love story when she saw one. And Kim Clarke Garnette, with her sharp wit and captivating fire, is the opposite. Their beginnings were a battlefield, clashing ambitions leaving them bruised but undeniably intrigued. Yet, somewhere amidst the discord, a fragile affection bloomed. Just as their love story threatened to paint their world in vibrant hues, a cruel twist of fate shattered their fragile peace. Now, Alexis stands at a crossroads. Surrender to the harsh reality that tore them apart, or risk everything for a love she once declared a mistake? This is a tale of resilience, of love defying boundaries, and the enduring scars that mark a heart forever tangled with another.

--------
"So, that's why you weren't answering my calls?" I blurted out, the words tumbling over each other. "Ignoring my texts because you were busy… flirting with my girlfriend, huh? Sarah?" Shame burned in my throat, choking back the word I almost couldn't bring myself to utter. We weren't girlfriends, not officially. We were a tangle of unspoken feelings and stolen moments, a beautiful mess with no label.

--------
"You have the nerve," my voice was a ragged rasp, raw with a cocktail of emotions – anger, betrayal, a deep, soul-crushing pain. "Did you even consider the hell I went through these past two weeks? The desperate yearning to see you, only to find Sarah clinging to you like a leech? Entwined in your arms like some kind of seductive parasite?"

Kim's eyes widened, shimmering with unshed tears. "Alexis, please, let me explain…" she pleaded, her voice trembling.

"Explain what?!" I shrieked, a bitter laugh escaping my lips. "How many nights, Kim? Huh? How many fucking nights did you spend with her?! Tell me!"

--------
“Kim!” The name tore from my throat, raw and desperate. I lunged forward, grabbing at the fabric of her suit, the one she had nonchalantly tucked her hand into. She spun around, confusion written all over her beautiful face.

Our eyes locked, and tears instantly blurred my vision. Seeing her up close was almost too much. Her presence overwhelmed me, a bittersweet knife twisting in my heart. For a moment, hope flickered. But then, like a cruel wind snuffing out a fragile flame, she spoke. “I’m sorry, do I know you?”
