Overview

Lindsey Hall’s woes began, oddly enough, at a yard sale. It was there that she found a tattered, leather-bound novel bearing the title Stonyheart. The novel, a tale of an isolated house and its residents, would have been just another vanity-published Gothic, if it hadn’t been for one thing. The protagonist, Amelia, wasn’t in love with a brooding, dark and handsome man. She was in love with a dark and handsome woman named Clare. Clare Kent, to be exact, the woman who did the eerie illustrations within the novel—and who seems to have been a real woman, and not just a character in the book. For Lindsey, a lesbian and a seller of rare and unusual books, Stonyheart is not just an oddity—it’s a mystery that calls to her. Was Stonyheart, the isolated house in the novel, real? Was Amelia truly lover to that shiver-inducing Clare? When a fellow dealer tells Lindsey he has an appointment at a house that fits the description of the one in her newfound book Lindsey has to take a chance, and see if it is. Once at the house she runs right into Joan, a devastatingly handsome woman with ties to the mansion, and a secret she’s willing to do anything to keep. When strange things start happening and Lindsey is almost killed in an accident or two she has to ask herself the question she doesn’t want to ask. Could Joan be the one trying to kill her? Or is she innocent of everything but stealing Lindsey's already damaged heart?
