Overview

It's 1947. Tokyo, Japan is a barren place still suffering in the aftermath of the war. Following the deaths of their parents, Atsumi and Mayako, have been left in the care of their yōbo—a businesswoman who plans to bring the art of ballet to Japan at a time when the country truly needs light and hope for the future. That is, if its citizens will accept it... Atsumi and Mayako their entire lives have had a love of dancing, and soon they develop a fondness for ballet and each other in an era when two women falling in love is strictly forbidden. Their futures have been mapped out. There is no deviation from it. They're also in debt to the woman who puts food in their bellies, and a roof over their heads, and who owns the only ballet theatre in Tokyo where they can dance. The two young women break all the rules. But can they afford to pay the price? Eventually, they must make a choice between their love of ballet and each other. What happens when they aren't willing to give up either?
