With Nikki in her life what could possibly go wrong? Emma was happy, in love, and dreaming about their future together, once university was out of the way.

Living and studying miles apart from each other meant weekend drives up and down the country to see each other. But there were also the holidays to look forward to.

The dream was, once university was out of the way they would both be living and working back in the same town where they would also be sharing a home.

But life took an unexpected turn when Nikki fell in love with someone else. Somebody she met at university, leaving Emma with a broken heart, and absolutely devastated when she learnt Nikki was going to marry her.

Emma has spent the last five years trying to get over Nikki and have a relationship where she felt love for someone like she had for Nikki, but it was not working.

With another serious relationship behind her, along with three or four one-night stands along the way, where drinking too much to get over the pain of Nikki nearly lost her everything, including her mind, she knew she had to get her life back into some kind of order, which she was slowly now doing.

When Nikki reappears in her life again it would be so easy to fall back into her arms and forget the past five years. But Nikki is still married, even if it is unhappily.

And Emma does not want to end up hurt again and find herself back on the road to self-destruction, but will she be able to resist the temptation?

Before that can happen, Emma has to endure a family Christmas back home with her parents, something which she could well do without.

But with their unexpected news it means she will be back for a further visit, and a chance meeting with Dusty, the estate agent with “the perfect teeth” was awaiting her.
