Overview

Jill is a medium and paranormal investigator. She often prefers the company of the restless dead to the living. The dead don't get up and walk out of dinner sticking you with the bill when you tell them your job is to get rid of ghosts. Her love life is nothing to write home about. That's all well and good though because her assistant, Ryan, has made arrangements for them to investigate a haunted bed and breakfast, which seems to be thoroughly haunted.

The Teardrop Inn is an old pre-Civil War Georgian home situated in the sleepy town of Betula, built and occupied by one of the town's founders, Samuel Birch. The house remained in the Birch family since its construction, and the locals all know about the Birch ghosts. The most recent owner is a history professor named Cordelia Finch, who didn't know the house even existed until she received the news that she inherited it following the previous owner's death. She is the last person with any blood relation to the original Birches.

The investigation proves to be unlike any of Jill's previous investigations. She finds herself tangled in a web of tragedy, betrayal, and secrets. Maybe there was a witch? Maybe the family was cursed? She's not sure what's going on, but the house is full of spirits, and she aims to figure out why so she can help them move on.

Jill did not, at any point, expect to be entranced by Dr. Finch, who turns out to be an extremely alluring woman. She is immediately enamored, but she has a job to do. There are ghosts.
