High school’s complicated enough without a pantry full of secrets, but that’s exactly what eighteen-year-old Margie has to work with. She prefers books and baking to trying to understand the complicated ties of other people. When you measure the ingredients and take care with the preparations, you can predict how a cake will look when it comes out of the oven.

What she can’t predict is what her run-off-to-Europe dad or her secret alcoholic mom will do. Her brother is another ball of secrets and hidden agendas too. There’s no perfect recipe for a happy family or good friends. And there’s certainly not a recipe to help her in matters of the heart.

Her already complicated life is turned inside out when she meets the beautiful new girl, Bliss. She’s everything Margie doesn’t understand, but she’s drawn towards her irrevocably. Bliss is out of the closet, loud and proud, happy, and always herself even in uncomfortable situations. Margie’s crush on Bliss drags the high school senior, her mad baking skills, and her pantry full of secrets into the limelight in order to help her high school’s Pride Club participate for the first time ever in the town’s spring parade.

Will she be able to balance her secrets and the new life dangling in front of her?

Avery Taylor Adams is the author of several novels, mostly lesbian fiction. She was born in the Appalachia Foothills, where many of her books take place. She's lived all over the east coast and in parts of the Midwest. She currently calls home whichever room her pup, Daryl, is in.

When she's not writing (and let's face it, that isn't often) she enjoys hanging out with her closest friends, reading, binge-streaming her favorite shows, and an active spiritual practice of eclectic paganism.
