Overview

Deep in the Adirondacks, there is a lake. Beside the lake, there is a small town. And in that town, there is an old, storied inn.

Lena MacIntyre had never heard of this lake, or this town, and certainly not the Sonnet Inn. Yet when a famous author of New York history books asks Lena's newspaper boss for a researcher to be sent out for his latest book, Lena finds herself driving up from Albany to the middle of nowhere.

It doesn't take long for the Sonnet Inn and its beautiful surroundings to impress Lena. The inn is full of history, from two presidential visits to a strange infatuation with Roman history- and its current occupants are no less interesting. Lena is particularly impressed by Joan Watson, a clear cut (and charming) diving enthusiast... but she's at the inn to do a job, and hopefully to impress her superiors back in Albany enough to earn a promotion.

For all its beauty and history, the inn has its own share of problems, and as Lena is drawn deeper into the inn's story, she finds it hard to stay aloof. The crisp mountain air and her growing interest in Joan make it harder still to sort out where her priorities should lay- and what her ideal future even looks like. One thing is clear: the Sonnet Inn is going to change her life forever.

"The Sonnet Inn" is one part sapphic romance, two parts a love letter to historic old buildings and glittering mountain lakes. Lena MacIntyre has a confusing week ahead of her, but don't fret: a happy ending is guaranteed!
