Overview

The story takes place in New York City in the 1990's when Theresa Carey (Tess) - a free-spirited, Harley - riding, softball-playing, high school educator takes a graduate class and lands in Dr. Jane Anderson’s classroom. Dr. Anderson (Jane) is ‘closeted’, straight-lace, analytical, a bit naïve, with southern charm who falls for the native New Yorker, Tess. The sexual vibes they are sending each other come to fruition when Tess asks Jane to dinner at the end of the semester. What is considered just a “summer fling”; unleashing their sexual desire for each other, evolves into a passionate, intimate, committed love.

" I love you Jane. I could live a thousand life times over and over again, and could only love you..."

Yet, their relationship must be kept a secret due to Jane still “closeted” at work and fears losing her position since Tess is still considered her student. Jane's colleagues; making unexpected visits to Jane's house, become suspicious of the two. They must pay attention to details, i.e., Tess’s bike parked over night; leaving together in the morning, two coffee mugs spotted on the kitchen counter, and calls to their offices. Tess’s frustrations and feelings are expressed through her street – smart “inner voice” that brings comedy relief to the story.

Their love and devotion to each other is threatened when Jane is brought up on charges by her two colleagues for violating the University's Code of Ethics and Jane blames Tess for exposing their relationship. In a dramatic, courtroom -like setting, Tess defends her love for Jane in front of the Ethics Committee, though she may still lose the love of her life.

Tess and Jane will take you on an intimate, loving, realistic journey of two women in love; trying to navigate the obstacles of society's disdain and discrimination towards their relationship. It is truly love and life between the laughter and the tears. .
