Toan Verkanth forged what was to be a temporary alliance with fae queen Eska Mavet to overthrow the tyrant king and restore the Verkanth bloodline to the throne.

Eska aligned with a human to eliminate the man who killed her living deity and hunts her people.

Their alliance was to end with the death of the king, yet could not. Not when Eska sits upon the throne instead. Toan doubts the queen’s claim that it is to fulfill a life debt to her. To complicate matters further, Eska accidentally issues a public proposal that leaves both their people under the impression they will wed and join their kingdoms. Now they must navigate the pros and cons of such an arrangement—along with the feelings that develop as they learn more about one another.
