Overview

A young woman named Virginia Palmer arrives at the country house she inherited from her deceased uncle.

There she meets a mysterious stranger, Ruth Waterhouse, who evokes contradictory feelings in her and behaves strangely.

In the meantime, somebody is killing young women in the region, causing fear in the entire female part of its population, and the strange behavior of Ruth begins to raise suspicion in Virginia.
