While clearing my head after my father's funeral, a flash of light pulls me back. I find myself not outside Reno, Nevada in 2021, but in Virginia City, Nevada, 1871. Grief-stricken and out of my element, I seek any sense of comfort or purpose. I'd never wager there might be another lesbian waiting to greet me here and now.
