Lauren Taylor, the wife of a U.S. senator, has come to a crossroads she cannot avoid. She’s a successful journalist, but she’s well aware that she’s been going through the motions, sleepwalking through her life in a sort of self-induced coma. Before she can figure out what’s going on and what to do about it, her husband drops a bombshell: he announces his intent to run for the Presidency.

Soon after, in the midst of politics and obligatory duties, Lauren meets and makes fast friends with a doctor named Madison Williams. Intrigued and feeling an immediate connection, the two women spend as much time together as they can until one fateful weekend when they act upon their mutual attraction and embark upon a clandestine affair. But at what cost? How secretive can anyone in the public eye be? And what fallout will occur if the news of the affair goes public?
