Vivian is trapped in a crumbling tomb masquerading as a palace. Her magic has abandoned her. She is forced to spend each day with Phanes, the false God of Life, afraid of his erratic behavior and his plans for her.

After nearly succumbing to her injuries, Venus is stuck in her nightmares, both real and imagined. Her love for Vivian is the only thing driving her forward, desperate to rescue the witch from her father’s grasp.
